I find playing Crusader kings III much more harder to learn than Stellaris, it only took me 3 hours to figure the depth of the Stellaris UI, Crusader III took me over 100 to 200 hours to understand the UI

Thanks Andy! I would love to play the 1212 AD Attila Mod but when I play in 4k the interface and writing is so small and playing in 2k or 1080p looks too blurry. Does anyone have any insight or a fix for the interface/UI size or the ideal way to play it?

I have over 150 hours into Field of Glory Kingdoms as the Byzantine Empire, and I have survived. Barely. Numerous civil wars, rebellions, and coups prove that even on the easiest levels this is indeed a challenging game. At least for the Eastern Romans that is. I have found it very entertaining and challenging. Thanks for your reviews!

Not sure it's the right niche but if anyone's very much into Medieval warfare (battle tactics, military units, armies organization, arms and armor, etc.) by a Ph.D. and a former TW modder I strongly recommend Schwerpunkt's videos series. They make the best historical introduction to TW titles and/or Manor Lords, Medieval Dynasty, etc. Keep up with the great work

"Looks so much better" Cap cap cap you fricken lie dude we have eyes it's a bloody eyesore OG Rome looks so much better-- this one looks terrible in almost every aspect. The colors are way too saturated, the textures are absolute dogwater (the textures of buildings legit look better in og rome) The whole screen just looks like they submerged the camera in Vaseline. The new campaign map is such Sid Meiers knock off garbage. They do the bare minimum, make almost everything look worse compared to the original with the sole exception of unit models and textures-- with NO NEW animations, no new AI, no new nothing for the better I'd be willing to bet, and asking $30 on Steam-- 2 years later I'll add-- the temerity!!! CA can literally do no right! All they are capable of doing now is grifting. Genuinely surprised they didn't cut out original factions to try and sell back to the player as DLC. I spit on their entire studio. Like legit compare this new cash grab POS to the ABSOLUTELY PERFECT AND MASTERFUL TOTAL CONVERSION EUROPA BARBORUM MOD made by CA 10 years ago, FOR FREE, a true labor of love-- that added A TON OF FACTIONS, A TON OF UNITS, A NEW GOVERNMENT SYSTEM AND EVENTS, HISTORICAL CLIFF NOTES, IMPROVED TEXTURES AND VISUALS. Get the original Rome for cheap and install EB and you can get literally a thousand hours of entertainment out of it.

Ridley Scott's Napoleon was an abomination. I don't see how anyone actually interested in Napoleon's story found it compelling. Felt like it was for normies who are only vaguely familiar with his name.

I was afraid the game is going to look like 90% of pay2win cheap strategy games on mobile. And as far as I can see it looks exactly like that . Same layout , same controls, same mehanics just different skins. They should follow the steps of Dominations. They made high quality not pay2win mobile strategy game. (The game is from the devs of Rise of nations, which was also PC game) .

I think Rome 2 is still a bit early. But since i really like that era, I wouldnt mind a Rome 3.

star wars is the most iconic and will drive more people to play it imo. i personally cant wait for warhammer 40k and star wars.

I love warhammer 3 but napoleon makes it look silly when it comes to the gorgeous and utterly MASSIVE battle maps. Big battles in napoleon feel like stories compared to the tiny arcade maps of warhammer. The battle maps also actually look so beautiful whereas warhammer 3 has maps that are sometimes straight up awful to look at.

I'd love to play the crusades

needs an update, the games had major improvements since release as well as more units and lots of quality of life enhancements. As well as a good growing community

There’s sooo much missing, they should’ve spent more time on this and added a lot more missions and side activities, they don’t have much of that at all

On Shogun 2 the AI waited over 10 turns to ambush me, I was moving my Daimyo with a few elites to another stack so about 1k (I play with everything on ultra) and the AI ambushed me with 14k Ashigaru units, mostly spears😱 I thought it was the end of my Daimyo, forgot to save so it was too late to go back further without losing momentum. First thing I did was move around the map a bit, that forced the enemy to follow and get tired, after that I was able to better analyze the terrain I found a spot where they bottlenecked for a little bit and I kept attacking them there to lower morale, then I would have to swing around multiple times, tiring the enemy. Finally once I saw that their morale was shocked, I dismounted some units at the bottleneck I found and swong the others to hit behind them and poof, those Ashigaru didn't stand a chance, I routed archers first then the spears, I dismounted some of the units because of the spears to hold a line while I took the rest to smash into their back line. I bought Shogun 2 in 2009, it was my first Steam game, I keep playing because more than what kind of units or how many units, tactics matters the most, that's what I want CA, that depth, so I defeated an army of 14k Ashigaru in an open field with only 1k elite units with tactics and it took a long time over an hour, why can't I get this from some of the other TW games, I'm looking at you WH and 3K.

i still prefer Rome 1 with the excellent RTR mod.. i own Rome II , but when i want too play rome, 95% of the time Rome 1 is my choice

i would have done a bronze age total war historical at full price, and then release a fantasy dlc at 15-20-25 where you tell the story of troy, Anubis and Egyptians gods plus Mesopotamia with bulls, this wouuld have been crazy good

I was learning more about the Napoleonic period and picked up the game. What really put me off it was the tiny battle scale. I know the engine can't handle battles with 20,000 units or more, sure, but it just felt wrong to have engagements of 5000-10000 be decisive in the Napoleonic Wars

I wish they made more RPGs (like AC Origins) or MMOs, set in Ancient Rome. I am so tired of these strategy/city-builder games. I had my hopes up when I saw they were developing an MMO called Life of Rome, they were even starting to show some footage, but then they announced it was cancelled. For now, we sit and wait.
